New London Headquarters
Located on the southeastern Connecticut seashore in a historical New England vacation area known for its seafood, easy pace of living, and nautically related recreational activities.
In addition to senior management of the Research & Development division, the New London Headquarters facility serves as the center for the company's global development team, responsible for demonstrating the effectiveness and safety of drugs through clinical trials.
As part of environmental remediation of the property, Pfizer worked with state and federal agencies to restore the tidal wetland adjacent to the peninsula. Once a repository for run-off from a neighboring scrap metals yard, the salt marsh today is a viable habitat for aquatic wildlife. Its restoration continues as a model for public/private community educational programs.
